Rich Koplan, Board Treasurer

Community Member - Retired

Rich Koplan was born in California, but his family moved to Vancouver the summer before Rich entered second grade. He has enjoyed using the Fort Vancouver Regional Library system since it was in the old Carnegie building which now is the museum. Many times he did his home work and school projects in that building. (And many times Eva Santee told him not to talk so loudly in the library!) He still fondly remembers those days.

In 1967, after graduating from the Cornish School of Allied Arts in Seattle, he began his career in retailing and interior design at Koplan’s Home Furnishings in Vancouver, where he spent the majority of his working life. Rich is now enjoying retirement.

A great believer in community service, over the decades Rich has been active and served as president in the Fort Vancouver Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club of Greater Clark. He has also spent time as a lunch buddy at Hazel Dell Elementary School.

Rich’s wife, Ellen, sadly passed away in 2014. He is blessed to have two fine sons, daughters-in-law, and three granddaughters.

Why the Library:
"I am deeply committed to FVRL. I am extremely proud to serve on the Board, and hope to for as long as I am wanted."
